FILM & TELEVISION

Year 9 Media Arts explores advertising forms and graphic design principles while learning skills using Adobe Photoshop. 

Students are then required to edit a short video drama sequence using Adobe Premiere. 

To conclude the semester of study students learn photography and construct a web-folio.

Year 10 Film & Television investigate the voyeuristic and promotional nature of the Music Video genre. This is supplemented by a group production of a music video where students experiment with artistic, cinematic and editing concepts.

Students then learn audio, continuity and semiotic skills through the analysis and then production of narrative films.  

Year 11 students develop their understanding of the foundational concepts and processes used in Film, Television & New Media by learning to use available technologies to select, construct, manipulate and structure moving-image media. They learn about technical, symbolic and narrative codes and conventions used in the construction of moving image.

In Unit 2, students investigate the ways in which story takes different forms in different contexts across moving-image media platforms. They focus on how representations and languages engage audience in stories. 

Year 12 Film, Television & New Media Television first explore the Transmedia revolution and multiple platform release models.

Students are exposed to diverse new media formats and examine the influence this has on users, producers and their interaction. 

In Semester 2 students have the opportunity to personalise their visual storytelling by conducting a case study and replication of their favourite director.

 

The final unit's focus is negotiated with students with regards to new and emerging media technologies and formats.
